#ModiInsultsIndia – This is on top of the trending list on Twitter Tuesday Morning. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments in Shanghai on May 16 rages anger in India and among Indians abroad.
Modi said on Saturday that his year in office as Prime Minister had given Indians abroad a new pride in the country.
“Earlier, you felt ashamed of being born Indian… Now you feel proud to represent the country. Indians abroad had all hoped for a change in government last year”-Modi with NRIs
Modi reverberated similar lines when he addressed a gathering of Indians in Seoul on Monday.
“There was a time when people used to say we don’t know what sins we committed in our past life that we were born in Hindustan. Is this any country, is this any government…we will leave” he said in Hindi.
“There was a time when people used to leave, businessmen used to say we can’t do business here. These people are ready to come back. The mood has changed”
His words of Indians being ashamed till May 2014 set Twitter ablaze with online users denunciating his comments.
#ModiInsultsIndia also jumped onto the list of worldwide trends with heavy criticism mounting on the popular Indian leader. Many People Recollect the 2002 Gujarat Riots and some of the examples of Modi’s self obsession.
